Event Summary
 

Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton will be the keynote speaker at the fifth annual All-World Awards, presented by Bill Knight Automotive, on Tuesday, June 29, at Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Broken Arrow.

                                                          

The All-World Awards honor outstanding area performers in high school sports. 

Athletes of the year will be honored from finalists already announced in football, basketball, wrestling, swimming, volleyball, softball and cross country. Finalists for baseball, golf, soccer, tennis and track and field will be announced in June.

There also will be winners announced for other awards that honor the top overall athletes of the year, coaches and fans, and those who have excelled in the classroom. A comeback athlete of the year will be honored as well as an inspirational athlete who will receive the sportsmanship award. 

There also will be a lifetime achievement award winner.

Check-in time will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the awards ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. 

Dinner consists of: 

  • Rosemary Roasted Chicken (breast topped with white wine & herb reduction sauce)
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Seasonal Grilled Vegetables

Dessert consists of: 

  • Double layer Chocolate Cake
  • Lemon Raspberry Tartlet

 

About Coach Boynton

Mike Boynton, the youngest coach in the Big 12 Conference at 39, recently completed his fourth year at Oklahoma State by leading the Cowboys to a 21-9 record, the school's first NCAA Tournament win since 2009 and their first appearance in the Big 12 Tournament championship game since 2005.

An engaging speaker and social justice advocate, Boynton is a Brooklyn, N.Y., native who graduated from University of South Carolina in 2003 with a degree in African-American studies and was also a four-year letter winner for the Gamecocks basketball team.

Selection Committee
An elite group of athletes is hand-selected by a panel of Tulsa World sportswriters. Athletes who qualify for nomination for an award are within 60 miles of downtown Tulsa. Athletes also are eligible if they are from a town of at least 5,000 people and located within 75 miles of downtown Tulsa.
